He is now 18 and has decided to make school a priority. His mother and father were often at odds, and the strain of having to move back and forth between them undoubtedly took a toll on his mental health. I hope he’s doing well and is still as confident as he was when he stood up to his mom for what he thought was right.
Did Parker Leverett Live with His Dad?
Parker Leverett, with the backing of his biological father, was motivated to pursue parental emancipation after seeing the film. Regrettably, this decision triggered a protracted court battle. The request Parker made to move in with his dad was denied.
He was ordered back to live with his mother and stepfather on August 13, 2013, after Judge Denn Whalen ruled that he was not old enough to be considered an emancipated minor. During the time the issue was being heard in court, Parker had only spent 2.5 months living with his father.
As a result of being restricted to only 15 minutes with his father, his homecoming to his stepfather was a sorrowful one. Parker’s stepfather’s family uprooted and relocated to San Antonio, Texas, a distance of about six hours from Parker’s hometown of Odessa.

In the first instance, on Sunday, May 26, 2013, he filmed and uploaded a YouTube video in which he described the abusive treatment he had suffered from his mother and stepfather. He decided to take matters into his own hands because he believed the authorities were too slow to act.
When Parker Leverett was only two years old, on June 6, 2013, he gave his biological father permission to record, upload, and share the video. The moment Parker and his father went to see his stepfather (Jason May), May admitted to trespassing on Caleb Leverett’s property, so Parker and his father decided to make the news about the incident.
The chain of events that followed the video’s distribution propelled Parker to fame. People who saw it online felt bad for him. Parker’s mother’s critics added salt to injury by accusing her of being a careless parent. It was also implied that Parker’s stepfather was a violent man who would strike at the slightest provocation.
