When Was Dustin Diamond Diagnosed with Cancer?

Diamond was brought to the hospital over the weekend of January 8 and given a cancer diagnosis on Monday. It was reported in The Sun that Diamond’s buddy Dan Block had confirmed the news that he had cancer. In an exclusive interview, Block disclosed that the actor delayed seeking treatment for the bump on his neck out of fear of ridicule.

On January 14, Block was quoted by The Sun as saying, “Right now we don’t know how terrible it is or where it has spread.” I felt compelled to speak up because some are claiming it’s all an elaborate scam and Dustin is actually quite ill.”

When Did Dustin Diamond Die?

On Monday, February 1, 2021, the Saved by the Bell star lost her battle with stage four lung cancer. A close friend, Dan Block, revealed confidentially that after being brought from the hospital to begin hospice care at home, the patient, unfortunately, ceased breathing on the way to his bed.

Before Dan’s speech deteriorated, he had a brief conversation with Dustin, during which he expressed optimism about the future and claimed he expected to live for at least a few more months. In his own words, Dan remarked,

“On Thursday night I realized it was going to be sooner than we originally planned.” He confided in me that he was near death and in considerable agony, but that he was hopeful for the future, certain that he had at least a few more weeks or months to live. He anticipated that it would take five months.”

Dustin shot to fame as quirky Samuel “Screech” Powers on Saved by the Bell, an Emmy–winning series on NBC for kids. The series aired from 1989 (under the name Good Morning, Bliss) to 1993.
