Seven businesses on the Mississippi Coast now have medical cannabis business licenses thanks to the Mississippi Department of Health. Each of the cultivation companies has a permit to grow medical marijuana.
According to the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Act, cannabis production facilities are “companies that are regulated and registered with the health department and that acquire, grow, cultivate, and harvest medical cannabis in an indoor, enclosed, locked, and secure environment.”
After being grown, the products are sold to processing, testing, or research institutions for cannabis. The processing factories turn cannabis into goods that may be exported and sold at authorized dispensaries, like oils, ointments, vaping cartridges, and edibles.
