Tuesday, the Cannabis Regulatory Agency of Michigan suspended the license of a marijuana processor in Lansing and warned consumers that marijuana products marketed under the brand Fwaygo Extracts with the product name “Space Rocks” was made by combining regulated and illegal marijuana products before being sold in dispensaries.
The agency said it immediately revoked the medical and recreational cannabis licenses held by TAS Asset Holdings, located at 919 Filley Street, Suite 100, in Lansing, after discovering that two packages of vape cartridges failed safety compliance testing for Bifenthrin, an insecticide that is prohibited for use in the regulated market.
As the CRA began investigating the source of the test failure, video surveillance footage revealed that the product used to manufacture the vape cartridges was not the same product that had passed compliance testing and was documented in the state’s monitoring system.
“The conduct described in the official complaints poses a serious threat to the public health and safety of marijuana users in Michigan,” stated Brian Hanna, executive director of the CRA.
According to the agency, a representative of TAS Asset Holdings confessed that the “Space Rocks” product is manufactured with unlabeled THCA powder. The inquiry also revealed that the business was storing and exchanging illegal marijuana goods for approved products.
During the investigation, the agency claimed to have discovered that an unapproved, unlicensed warehouse was being utilized by the licensed business. Among other unlabeled marijuana goods, CRA investigators discovered plastic-wrapped barrels of an unidentified substance, two black totes of an unidentified substance, and many mason jars of oil.
