This past Saturday, 28-year-old Markus Rashad Tull was arrested at a Walmart in Morgan County for "skip scanning" merchandise in the automated checkout. At least 24 things were missing, according to the Walmart officer who reported Tull to authorities. Surveillance footage, as reported by the Morgan Citizen, showed that Tull had not paid for many products totaling roughly $165. After Tull's arrest, he requested the police if he may retain the things he had purchased, and they obliged, putting them in the trunk of his car. Tull reportedly gave police his key fob, as reported by the Morgan Citizen. When police arrived, they didn't search the backseat but rather the trunk to conceal the stolen goods. When the officers opened the trunk, they were hit by a strong whiff of cannabis. Approximately 37 pounds of marijuana was discovered in three duffle bags that had been vacuum sealed, as reported by the Citizen. A smaller bag of what they believe to be Psilocybin mushrooms was also discovered. The Morgan Citizen reports that police said this bust was the highest amount of marijuana ever seized by their agency. Tull faces charges of distribution of marijuana, trafficking, shoplifting, theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, distribution of a schedule I or II controlled substance, and possession of a schedule I controlled substance.
