According to the Morgan Citizen, a guy in Georgia was arrested after being caught shoplifting from a Walmart, and he got even deeper into trouble when police discovered 37 pounds of marijuana in his trunk.
On Saturday, a 28-year-old named Markus Rashad Tull was arrested at a Walmart in Morgan County for allegedly “skip scanning” items in the automated checkout.
At least 24 goods were missing from Tull’s shopping cart, according to a Walmart security guard. The CCTV footage, as reported by the Morgan Citizen, showed that Tull had failed to pay for multiple products totaling roughly $165.
Following his arrest, Tull requested the police if he might retain the items he had purchased, and they obliged, placing them in the trunk of his car. According to the Morgan Citizen, Tull handed over his key fob to law enforcement.
To prevent the authorities from seeing what he had purchased, he had them open the trunk instead of the backseat. Upon opening the trunk, the officers noticed an overwhelming cannabis odor.
Three duffel bags containing 37 pounds of marijuana in vacuum-sealed packages were reportedly discovered by police. They also discovered what they believe to be psilocybin mushrooms in a smaller bag.
It was the greatest marijuana bust in Morgan Police Department history, police said, according to the Morgan Citizen.
To date, Tull has been charged with trafficking, shoplifting, possession of drug-related materials, possession of a schedule I or II controlled substance with intent to distribute, and possession of a schedule I controlled substance.
