Who Is Tony Soprano
Anthony “Tony” John Soprano is the real leader of the DiMeo crime family (born August 22, 1959–March 30, 2007).
Tony runs the most powerful criminal organization in North Jersey and tries to keep things from going wrong. After Tony’s father, Giovanni (Johnny Boy), died, his uncle Corrado John Soprano, Jr. (Junior), took over as his father.
As the FBI looked into Junior, the friendship between them got worse. Tony was mad that Brendan Filone had been killed. He and Tony’s mom, Livia Soprano, came up with a plan to kill Tony.
Before he knew she had planned the attack, Tony took care of his mother. Tony’s mother, who was bitter and pessimistic, refused his help and was furious when he put her in a retirement community, which Livia called a “nursing home.”
After someone tried to kill Tony, he goes to the retirement home to talk to his mother, but she has had a stroke. Tony tells his mother with anger that he has found out the truth. After that, Tony doesn’t talk to her much, which almost hurts their relationship.

Who Is Tony Soprano Based On
Anthony John Soprano, who is played by James Gandolfini, is the main character of the HBO drama series The Sopranos (1999-2007). During the course of the series, Tony Soprano becomes the boss of his North Jersey Mafia family. He came to the U.S. from Italy.
David Chase, who created The Sopranos and was the showrunner for all six seasons, is largely responsible for the story arc of the Italian-American main character Tony, who is often just called “Tony.” Gandolfini got the part even though Steven Van Zandt and Michael Rispoli were also in the running.
This fictional character is based on New Jersey mobsters Ruggerio “Richie the Boot” Boiardo, head of the North Jersey Genovese crime family, and Vincent “Vinny Ocean” Palermo, a former capo and “de facto” boss of the DeCavalcante crime family.

In three episodes, Danny Petrillo played Soprano as a teenager, while Bobby Boriello and Mark Damiano II each did it once as a child. In the 2021 movie The Many Saints of Newark, Michael Gandolfini, who is the son of James Gandolfini, played a younger Tony Soprano.
